Swingin Around Ep. 40 - Showtime's Masters of Sex Season 1 Review

Swingin Around Ep. 40 - Showtime's Masters of Sex Season 1 Review

After a brief discussion about the Michigan hotel party seen, we delve into an in-depth review of Showtime's Masters of Sex, Season 1. This episode does contain spoilers about the show, although we spend more time discussing the merits of the research and themes of the show than specific plot points. We also discuss the show writing and portrayal of women and society in the 1950s, particularly how it relates to human sexuality.

Stay Sexy and Stay Swingin

For those of you interested, we announced that we will be reading "Bonk" by Mary Roach for our next book review, scheduled to air in at least 1-2 months. Check it out if you want to be informed prior to the episode.

  1. I enjoyed listening to your podcast on this series. I had seen the last episode of the season while traveling and staying at a hotel, while my kids were asleep no less. I had pretty much decided not to watch the series, but after listening to your podcast have decided to revise my plan. I noticed today that Tristan Taormino on Sex Out Loud podcast has a show on Thomas Maier and the book on which the series is based, and, as you guys have mentioned that you were interested in other books to review and authors to interview (since the interview with Hollywood's other Daniel Stern was so good), I was curious if you were thinking of doing an interview with Thomas Maier or reviewing his book. Wow that was a horrible run-on sentence.

    1. Hi Paulie,

I hope you enjoy Masters of Sex! Thanks for the suggestion about Thomas Maier. It hadn't been on our radar but we'll look into it. Thanks for listening!
